About

Handmade Style Designed for You

My passion for furniture and woodwork began in a little home workshop in South London, experimenting with up-cycling furniture for the garden out of scaffold boards and pallets.  It wasn’t long before I was supplying custom made tables to friends and family, which is when I founded Rag & Byrne in 2014.  At the time I was working as a Sales Director for a sound and audio company, which meant this was only a part time hobby for me.  A couple of years later, after various different life changes, I moved back to the countryside and left my job which allowed me focus on Rag & Byrne full time.  You will now find me in a much larger workshop, surrounded by the beautiful Kent countryside hand crafting tables using locally sourced materials.  The enjoyment and satisfaction I get with the process of making a bespoke piece of furniture to your specifications and seeing it placed in the room it was made for, is something I will never get bored of.

Apart from one or two friendly helpers I use for delivering and assembling tables, my furry assistant Betty is my only other full-time employee at Rag & Byrne.  Betty’s main focus is more on the off cuts of timber rather than the tables, but you can’t fault her endless enthusiasm.

When you order a table from Rag & Byrne you will be ordering a unique piece of furniture specifically built to fit your requirements.  Every table I produce is crafted with care, love and attention to detail, to ensure you will receive a beautiful centre piece in your home for years to come.  If you are unable to find a design or size you are looking for, or just need some professional advice, please get in touch with me for a friendly chat.
